The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has opened investigations into the alleged murder of one Ifeoma Abugu, a by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FCT Command.
Ifeoma, a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, was reportedly murdered on September 10, 2020.
It was alleged that the SARS operatives sexually assaulted and murdered the young lady after she was arrested at the residence of her fiancee, Afam Ugwunwa, at Wumba village in the Lokogoma area of Abuja.
The policemen had come to to arrest the fiancee but instead whisked away Ifeoma, who was the only one they met.
It was gathered that the deceased, who had just concluded her National Youth Service Corps mandatory service, was arrested and killed four days after she had her ‘introduction’ with Ugwunwa in Enugu State.
Spokesman for the FCT Police Command, Anjuguri Manzah, said the Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, had ordered an investigation investigation into the incident.
Manzah added that a post-mortem on the corpse to unravel the true cause of her death.
In a statement he released on Monday, he said, “Consequent upon this, the Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, has ordered a discreet investigation and post-mortem to unravel the true cause of death.
“While sympathising with the family and friends of the deceased, the command wants to assure the public that it will be professional and transparent in the investigation.”
