Niger Gov sues for calm over worsening security situation

Amidst worsening security situation in some parts of Niger State, Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has appealed to residents of the state especially Kagara town in Rafi local government area of the State to remain calm as his administration is presently devising strategies aimed at arresting the security situation in parts of the state.

Governor Bello’s appeal came following the invasion of bandits on the town and immediate Communities between Wednesday and Thursday.

The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel-Berge said the government was shocked to see a video clip showing residents of the area running “helter-skelter in panic and during the attack calling for intervention from the state government and the army”.

The Governor acknowledged the enormity of the security challenges facing the state but assured the people that the state in active collaboration with President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies will restore peace back to the affected communities in the local government areas across the state.

The Governor commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the attack and prayed for a speedy recovery for the injured victims.

He solicited the cooperation of the people for their useful information to the security agencies just as he assured them that their identity will be made confidential.
