Man arrested for raping nine-year-old step daughter  ‎

A 39-year-old man, P‎atrick Obiora, has been nabbed by the police in Adamawa State for raping his nine-year-old step daughter.

Spokesman of the A‎damawa State Police Command‎, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.‎

Obiora allegedly committed the offence at his residence‎ located at No.46 Hospital Road, Jimeta, Yola North. ‎

The complaint lodged by the victim’s mother led to Obiora’s arrest by police detectives attached to the Karewa division, on Monday, July 20.

Parts of the statement issued by Nguroje read, ‎”The Adamawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that following its fight against sexual assault against women and children, the police has made tremendous achievement.

“The Command on the 20/7/2020 arrested one Obiora Patrick, a 39-year-old a resident of No.46 Hospital Road, Jimeta, Yola North, for raping his nine-year-old stepdaughter.

“The suspect upon his arrest volunteered confessional statement while the victim is undergoing medical screenings.”

The Adamawa State Police Comm‎and urged members of the public to key into the fight  against sexual assault against women and children and advised parents and guardians to monitor their wards closely. ‎

Nguroje said the Command was committed to protecting lives and property in the state, and called on residents to assist the police with information, especially when they notice suspicious movement around them.

He added that the suspect will soon be arraigned in court.‎
