Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party candidate for governor of Lagos State, recently spoke at a meeting called “Youth O’Clock” in Ikeja, where he expressed his belief that Nigerian youths are close to achieving their goal of taking over governance and creating their dream country. According to Rhodes-Vivour, a new Lagos will give birth to a new Nigeria, where citizens can expect quality healthcare, public education, and infrastructure.
During his speech, Rhodes-Vivour emphasized the importance of this project, saying that it will lift the lives of millions of Lagosians and many Nigerians. He believes that it is time to free Lagos from the “shackle hold of tyranny” and that the people of Lagos should have the opportunity to enjoy good roads, clean water, and quality public education. He also noted that parents should not have to struggle to find the money to pay for their children to go to private schools.
Rhodes-Vivour is confident that the Nigerian youth is 90% of the way towards achieving their goal, and that once Lagos is won, the rest of the country will follow. He believes that new politicians who mean well for the people will emerge, with the ability to articulate their vision and a positive outlook on change. He stated that this will mark the end of the status quo, and that Lagos and Nigeria will set a new standard for governance.
Rhodes-Vivour also praised Nigerian youths for their support of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, in the recent presidential election. He noted that the party’s focus is on empathy and compassion for the suffering of the people, and that their dedication to the welfare of the citizens of Nigeria will continue beyond the election.
