About 20 persons have reportedly lost their lives during cult clashes in parts of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
It was gathered that the clashes, between the Eiye and Aiye confraternities, started two weeks ago.
The areas affected are Epe garage, Ejinrin road, Adefisan, Ibadan garage, Onirugba and Tatina, old Benin-Ondo road among others.
A source in Ijebu-Ode said many of the victims are innocent people.
A woman and her daughter, who were in a commercial tricycle, were shot dead after members of the rival cult group targeted the rider of the tricycle, who belonged to the other gang.
Also, an apprentice died after his arm was chopped off during another clash.
Several persons were reportedly killed in Epe garage, Ejinrin road, Ibadan-garage and Adefisan during the cult clash which forced people scampering for safety.
It was further gathered that few others persons lost their lives in Onirugba, old Benin-Ondo road, Oke-Owa.
On Monday, two persons were reportedly killed behind a popular hotel in Oke-Aje.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the development.
However, the police spokesman denied reports that innocent people were killed in the clashes.
