A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State, Chief Sam Uwandu has called on all Nigerians, especially the youths to resist any temptation of embarking on street protest with the presidential election less than two weeks away.
He said embarking on street protest to vent their anger against the biting economic hardships occasioned by the introductory new naira notes among other sundry issues would be counter productive at this critical time.
Uwandu, a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants made the call when a group of Nigerian professionals resident in America visited his office in Washington DC.
The former PDP Governorship Aspirant asked the young people to protest with their Permanent Voter Cards, instead of embarking on street protests.
He said Nigerians must be extremely careful during this period of election.
“We are dealing with people who are too advanced politically, the people that want power and would resist given up on power at all cost. The fuel scarcity, currency scarcity the man made hardship are all the master’s script to force street protest, and this is exactly what the cabal wants.
“It is becoming obvious and doubtful that Nigerians will vote them back in office. People’s street protest at this critical stage will be an invitation for army to come back.
“Please, let us endure this remaining days, and if we have to protest, let’s protest with our PVCS – a major protest at this critical moment will be an invitation for army to come back,” he insisted.
